Day 174, endless repetition, ringing change

This is the pit in New Zealand where Robo, 2nd android cousin of Frodo, and ninth cousin twice removed of Bilbo, cast the mithral spell to create the tenth of the nine rings for mortal men.

The pit is now fenced off to prevent fanboi action - it's always the few unruly elements spoil it for the rest - and no longer presents quite the hazard it once did to the children of distracted parents.

When Peter Blake directed the runic masterpiece by reclusive writer J R K Rowlkien little did he know that there would be as much miasma on his hands as there has been.  The true depth of the pit obscured by that of an unusual optical illusion, has caused many to misjudge the danger contained within.  A drop which appears to be only the height of a dwarf on an Orc's back the pit is actually infinitely deep due to a ripple in space-time.  As the plummeting obsessive hits the ripple they then reappear four metres above the point of their effective teleportation.  This then renders them in a perpetual, infinite free fall.

The fence now prevents the horror of the vision of the repeatedly falling form being seen, however it does not prevent the sound of their screams.

Eventually the fallers become accustomed to their predicament and stop screaming.  They then proceed to have conversations with each other as they whizz by.  This continues until they run out of energy, dehydrate, and after a period of time expire.

The New Zealand government is technically breaking their own law by not disposing of the mortal remains in a manner deemed fit and could be open to a charge of abuse of a dead body.  This has so far occupied the legal minds of the country for six months and cost the government 6.8 million NZ Dollars.

The authorities are trying to formulate a plan to capture the endlessly rotating remains.  Until then they have been lobbing potassium hydroxide into the pit as a rough and ready method to dispose of the rotting relics by alkaline hydrolysis, in the Land of Mordor where the shadows lie.
