Day 203, Get up on the roof and shout

It would be really good to be able to clamber out.  But there ain't no exit from this building that gives access.

But fortunately here's one I did earlier.  A view over Highfield towards Arnold Laver, and that building on the left with the two white blocks on top of it is Sheffield College.

You can see most things of importance from here, or it certainly was possible at one time.  The College fits into that category as it was a decent place of work for me for a while.

The things I've seen from these tiles:

Bruce Springsteen
Sheffield United
Various places of work
Some wood
Many balloons
Torvak the Warrior

You name it, I've pretty much seen it from this roof if it had any magnitude of meaning.

The sky really was that blue too, every day, and every night.  Even then under Thatcher.  Maybe because of Thatcher.  But it wasn't very warm, almost certainly because of Thatcher.  Oddly enough, times were quite tough but a lot of the middle classes were so detached from it they didn't see that reality, and a lot of the working class wanted a bit of the pie that Thatcher dangled in front of them.

There was no pie, but gullible people still believed it.

Oh look, we appear to be in a similar position again, but this time I'm part of the middle class.

Does that make any difference to me?

Other than that I am better off, does it fuck.

Knowing that people are still in a position where they have to struggle, and that they are then blamed by an uncaring government with the assistance of the media and that of a credulous public prepared to believe any old crap, is very disappointing.  People can still be taken in by such things if they're painted with the thinnest veneer of plausibility and by their own inability to adequately question what is presented, partly due to a lack of skill and partly due to a willingness to believe.  "Here it is, this is how it is, no need to check the facts".

Chumps.

And if you believe the thing about the blue sky then honestly, there's no hope.
