Nice to see renewable energy starting to regularly produce more power either nuclear or coal. Pretty good given the half hearted interest the UK government has in renewables when compared to the investment and subsidy in traditional generation methods and questionable methods such as ‘fracking’.
It seems to me that wind power has proved itself to be pretty effective. Even if it was doomed to fail we could tidy it up afterwards and return the environment to something like its previous state.
Not quite as simple with nuclear. How can anyone think it’s a good idea to proceed with something that we can’t effectively tidy up? With any project you have to ask at the start “how do we get out of this if we need to?” The option for nuclear seems to be to hide it under the carpet or sweep it between the floorboards. Or more accurately, cover it in a big lump of concrete and leave it for future generations and encase other bits in concrete and drop it into holes and leave it for future generations.
Time to call in the liquidator for nuclear.
