Actually they may already be free, these leaked images from the Furka Pass are quite aged now and it's unlikely that these creatures live for decades.
There probably weren't seven of them either, but it's always a good idea to use an odd number, an old psychological trick.
Marmots are a rather large and hairy type of squirrel that lives at high altitude.
There are only two of them visible in this picture where Princess Michael of Kent can be seen offering them a cigarette.
I'm not convinced that they are smokers.
