Day 89, spread your wings

Just spread your wings and fly.
Assuming you have wings and they are ready to take your weight.

My wings are pretty robust, they have to be to carry my 95kg of bulk quite correctly proportioned weight.  Even so you are unlikely to see me leaping off Mam Tor to test them out.  One of the people on the peak that day came careering back into the side of the hillside, just missing us as we clambered up the face of the Tor.  We helped pull the surprisingly heavy flying machine back up for him to have another attempt.  Even fully functioning, single person, air-carrier equipment can cause consternation at times.  There's no room for hesitation, half measures, or weak will, just get up and get back on with it - especially if there's no lift at the point you make the leap.

There are fourteen people airborne in the picture below.  And there were many more in the sky that day as there was a triangular challenge to fly between three peaks being made - not all of them made it beyond the valley floor.  In every case it was a lack of lift and a reasonable landing, rather than plummeting to the ground in a mess of tangled cable, broken limbs or foot placed firmly in mouth.

Hello up there - a few metres above my head.

The earthbound get to walk back down the Tor at normal human speed.

No metaphor was intended during the making of this blog.  Although "just do it" is a much better approach than repeatedly chewing over any option until it lacks substance.
