Unique error message

For the sake of the wider community I'll post an error message here, and both a work around and a resolution.  I have not yet tried the resolution or the work around.  Google and the various vendor websites didn't help so here it is for Google to find later.

Netware version 1536.12800 is not supported

This occurs when trying to load Portlock Storage Manager at the command line on a Netware 6.5SP8 server.  The version of Storage Manager is 5.05.1 but I also had the error with version 4.x, this does not occur on every server although all the servers should have identical configurations.

Portlock say they have never seen the error.  Upgrading to version 5.07 was advised - the software itself only allows upgrade to 5.05.1 and doesn't say that the upgrade method has now changed to use the Windows based Portlock License Manager (which is due to be renamed Portlock Storage Manager 5.08, and in fact already has been in the beta version).  Hopefully that will resolve the problem.

The work around is to load Storage Manager with the following switch:
sys:stormgr/stormgr -os=65

Hopefully that will stop someone else wasting time trying to resolve the issue!

 

**Update - The work around works, however, both version 5.07 and beta version 5.08 produce the same error message. 31 March 2011
