Day 444, Horloge digitale

All the fours, it's nearly quarter to five.

House!

Oh no, hang on.

It's actually 19:00, yes it says 20:00 there but the clock hasn't been reset for the 'fall back' part of the time change.

A manual radio, in the DAB age.

It uses a Phase Locked Loop (PLL) and proudly announces this on the front.

Not on the still attached stick on feature label, but actually screen printed onto the radio itself.

PLL would be meaningless to most would be purchasers

And why this should be such selling point is mysterious given that pretty much any modern FM radio uses PLL for demodulation.

Perhaps they're just using fancy language in the hope of impressing the gullible.

It worked on me.

Day 443, Get Shirty

Another one from the drawer.

Pac-attack on the underground.

Does this actually happen in London?

Reason to move there, it would be awesome.

Day 442, Hot wet celebrities

The road where Joe Cocker, Jarvis Cocker's uncle, used to live in Crookes.

And on the right is where the Dougal and Ermintrude from the Magic Roundabout briefly were in residence during the early 1970s.

This was the time when tabloid journalists were chasing them due to the 'love rat' period and they came here in hiding in the manner of John and Yoko.

Another coincidence is that Ermintrude was distantly related to both JC's.

Norman Cocker, the well known organist and composer, was also born here, about five houses down.

Unlikely as it may seem Norman was also a relation of Dougal.

Most of these houses appear to have decent heating, many with wood burning fires.

If any of those people still extant had left their houses today, and still lived here in their toasty houses, they would have got quite wet.

Day 441, Goat attack

Always somewhere, making its noise, grinding its teeth.

Nah pop no style, ready to bite you on the arse.

It has been asked the question many times, how do you propose to improve?

After all this isn't a one goat town.

You have to do more than just wear a three piece suit and springs and have too many LED 'eyes' to get to the top.

A similar response is elicited every time from the goat.

'Behhhhhh'.

Goats huh, not renowned for their linguistic skills, so let's see if there's a stylistic improvement overall.

We'll give it a few weeks and see where it stands.

It has to do something better to get that goat town top ranking.

Although maybe it is a sheep and not a goat?

Day 440, By this squareness so shall you know me

Nightmare of a universe composed entirely of bricks.

Infinitely, in every direction.

Human bricks locked in a rigid system.

Claustrophobic.

No escape.

The system fractured, overthrown

Can this be overthrown.

Sweet dreams little one.

Day 439, Found tech label

Look, look!

An over excited person shouts as they discover this marvellous artefact in the street.

Look it says IT on it, that stands for Information Technology.*

Apt.

How jaded has this IT employee become that finding a piece of metal in the street on a rainy day walk can have this effect.

Or perhaps more a sign of how easily amused this person is.

* A fragment of the word 'Electricity' in this case.

Day 438, Pick locking

Was going to put this 5-pin lock on the shed, but then couldn't find the key.

So I took a picture of it instead.

Having never picked a lock before I decided to pick* it.

It took about a minute of 'raking' and 'zipping'** and then it just opened.

What a piece of tat.

* Come on, everybody has lock picks these days, it's on-trend.
** The YouTube is just littered with a million blokes in 'Metal' T-shirts showing you how to do it.
