Week 179, These are not the tapes you are looking for

A long time ago in a data centre far, far away...

There was a dark recess

Where after a time light shone in

Unnatural light

Mercury vapour stimulated by electric current

Producing ultraviolet radiation

Creating an unpleasant glow from a tubular phosphor surface

Urgh

However, that doesn't answer the question

What were the tapes?*†

* Some may say they are for a Panasonic real to real tape recorder
Some say this cupboard was used for backup tapes

Week 178, Action voting unanimity

Sunday 18 March 2018

The EGM to discuss the first proposal from ACAS.

Unanimous in rejection.

Moving on to Wednesday 4 April 2018

The second 'offer' appeared at first to be a step forward.

However it offers nothing more than vague promises.

And it is a messy, short-term deal.

Which gets UUK what they want - an end to strikes.

But not what we want.

It should be rejected unless we are offered more concrete assurances.

We should also reject this.

I have voted no.

Week 177, Action grip tightens

Sunday 11 March 2018

Monday 5th to Thursday 8th this week, four days picketing.

This week we have the added bonus of International Women's Day on the Thursday.

We marched to the City Hall to hear IWD speakers.

The pressure on Universities continues to grow.

Behind the scenes there is a great deal of flapping and some recognition of the hole that has been dug.

Let them flap.

Week 176, Action continues amid unconventional parking

Sunday 4 March 2018

Three days of action, Monday 26th to Wednesday 28th.

The back muscles are still complaining, however there are signs of compliance.

The action is causing much disruption, and there are signs that senior figures are changing their tune.

The weather is ideal, dry snow doesn't bother anyone apart from BMW drivers.

Week 175, Ready for action

Sunday 25 February 2018

Thursday 22nd and Friday 23rd were the first two strike days.

Back muscles that have never really enjoyed standing for long periods have been given a workout.

My range of stretching styles and unusual walks were given a good test.

Stiffness as a consequence of picket duty may actually have been caused by stiffness preventing antics...

Just a collection of letters
